Through his interest in the care of people and the land and after 25 years of providing accounting services for farmers, Stephen Sellers together with his wife Mary decided to set up in 2008 FarmBudddies, an independent Social Enterprise.
FarmBuddies works with all parties in the South East to increase the number of people visiting farms to improve wellbeing.
From visiting existing care farms, reading evidence based reports and attending conferences, Stephen had been overwhelmed at how valuable this rewarding and under-promoted activity was in improving the lives of those spending time on farms. Meaningful work in a natural, socially inclusive environment was the key to confidence building for some, optimism for the future and a place to be appreciated and accepted for others.
Placing people on small to medium sized farms which will provide the right experience is the main role for Stephen and Mary. The word is spreading and FarmBuddies has so far initiated over 1,500 successful, funded farm day placements.
FarmBuddies is also the South East Network contact for Care Farming UK. Stephen can assist farmers looking to start a Social Care Farming enterprise and talk to Commissioners or custodians of Personal Budgets, who think people in their care would benefit from farm visits.
Stephen and Mary welcome your enquiries and will work with you to achieve better outcomes for those you support.
